Terms of Use
These terms govern your download, trial, purchase and use of Starix PDF.
Effective August 9, 2026
1. Agreement and provider
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) form an agreement between you and Starix Technology CO., LTD. (“Starix,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). By downloading, installing, purchasing or using Starix PDF (the “Software”), you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Software.
2. Free edition and trial
The free edition may be used without charge for the features identified as free in the Software. A new installation may include a 14-day Pro trial. The trial currently runs locally, does not require payment-card details and ends automatically; it does not become a paid subscription unless you separately complete a purchase.
We may take reasonable steps to prevent repeated or abusive trial use.
3. Paid plans
Starix PDF Pro is offered as:
- Monthly: US$4.99 per month, billed in advance until canceled.
- Lifetime: US$49.99 once for permanent use of the purchased major-version line on supported systems. A future major version may be offered as a separate paid upgrade.
Each individual Pro license is for one person and may be activated on up to three devices owned or controlled by that person. The license is personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and may not be shared as a multi-user seat.
4. Payments, tax and merchant of record
Purchases are completed through Polar Software, Inc., which acts as merchant of record and authorized reseller. Prices are stated in USD. Applicable sales tax or VAT is calculated and displayed by Polar at checkout. Your purchase is also subject to Polar’s Checkout Buyer Terms.
Monthly subscriptions renew automatically at the price and interval shown at checkout until canceled. Polar displays the cancellation effective date and remaining access in its customer portal. Canceling prevents future renewal charges; refunds, if any, are governed separately by our Refund Policy and mandatory law.
5. Permitted use
You may install and use the Software for lawful personal or business document work within the device limit. You are responsible for the documents you open, modify, sign or distribute and for maintaining appropriate backups before editing important files.
6. Restrictions
You may not:
- Resell, rent, sublicense, share or transfer the Software, account credentials, or an offline enterprise certificate, except where applicable law expressly permits transfer.
- Circumvent activation, device limits or feature restrictions.
- Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Software except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law or an applicable open-source license.
- Use the Software to infringe rights, bypass lawful access controls, create deceptive signatures or carry out unlawful activity.
- Remove proprietary notices from the Software.
7. Updates and compatibility
We may issue fixes, security updates and feature changes. Monthly subscribers receive updates while their subscription is active. A lifetime license includes updates within the purchased major-version line for as long as that version is maintained. We do not promise that every feature will work with every PDF, operating-system version, certificate provider, printer or third-party application.
8. Signatures, redaction and document responsibility
Starix PDF can place image-based signatures and apply certificate-based digital signatures. Starix is not a certification authority, does not verify a signer’s identity and does not guarantee that a signature meets a specific legal or industry standard. An image signature is not cryptographic proof.
You must review the saved output, especially after redaction, OCR, conversion, signing or form operations. Whether a document or signature is legally effective depends on applicable law, the certificate used and the receiving party’s requirements.
9. Open-source components
The Software includes third-party components under their own licenses. Their notices and license texts are distributed with the Software. Those licenses govern the relevant components and are not limited by these Terms.
10. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate a paid entitlement if payment is reversed, the license is refunded, a chargeback occurs, a license is shared beyond its permitted scope, or these Terms are materially breached. On termination, Pro features may be disabled and you must stop unauthorized use. Lawfully saved PDF output remains yours.
11. Warranty and liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Software is provided “as is” and without implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. Starix is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, lost profits or lost data arising from use of the Software.
Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, Starix’s aggregate liability will not exceed the amount you paid for the Software during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability or remedies that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer law, including liability for fraud, willful misconduct, or personal injury caused by negligence where applicable.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Taiwan (Republic of China), without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts with jurisdiction in Taichung, Taiwan have non-exclusive jurisdiction. Mandatory consumer protections and forums available in your country of residence are not waived.
