Starix PDF -- End-User License Agreement

This Agreement is between you and Starix Technology CO., LTD. ("Starix").

By installing or using Starix PDF (the "Software"), you agree to this
Agreement.


1. License options

You may use Starix PDF Free within its feature limits and try Pro free for 14
days (section 6).

Paid individual Pro plans:

  - Monthly subscription: US$4.99 per month.
  - Annual subscription: US$39.99 per year.
  - Lifetime license: US$99.00, paid once.

Each paid license is for one person, who may activate it on up to three
devices they own or control. Checkout shows taxes, currency conversion and the
final amount. A purchase is complete when you confirm payment on a checkout
page that shows the plan and price you chose.

A subscription lets you use Pro while it is paid and active. A lifetime
license lets you use the purchased major-version line of Pro without time
limit, subject to this Agreement. A later major version sold separately is
included only if the offer at purchase says so.


2. Account and activation

Activate Pro by signing in to your Starix account in the Software
(Help > Account & Pro). When Pro is active on three devices, release one in
the Software before activating another.

Pro needs a periodic online check: when the Software asks, connect to the
internet within the offline period it shows.

For a device that stays offline, a lifetime license holder can request an
offline key from Starix support. An offline key works on the device whose
request code it was issued for, and up to three can be issued for one lifetime
license. To replace a key after hardware or Windows changes, contact Starix
support to release the previous device.


3. Restrictions

You may not redistribute, sublicense, rent, lease, sell, share or transfer the
Software or a license key to another person; bypass license or device limits;
or remove proprietary notices. You may not reverse engineer, decompile or
disassemble the Software except where applicable law expressly permits it.
Rights granted by licenses for third-party components apply in full.


4. Third-party components

The Software includes third-party open-source components under their own
licenses. The NOTICE file and licensed-libraries folder supplied with the
Software contain applicable notices. Qt/PySide6 libraries are dynamically
linked and supplied under the applicable LGPL v3 terms described in NOTICE;
compatible Qt libraries may be replaced as allowed by that license.


5. Privacy and local processing

Starix PDF processes your PDF files on your computer. The Privacy Policy
supplied with the Software and at https://pdf.starix.com.tw/privacy explains
how account, license, purchase and signature-validation data is handled.


6. Trial, payments and refunds

Evaluate Pro with the free 14-day Pro trial before you buy: in the Software,
open Help > Account & Pro, sign in with a verified email address and select
Start 14-Day Free Trial. Each account, email address and device can use the
trial once. When the trial ends, you continue with Starix PDF Free.

Pro is digital content supplied online immediately after payment. At checkout,
you request immediate supply and acknowledge that, to the extent the law
allows, any right to withdraw from or cancel the purchase does not apply or is
lost once supply begins. All payments are final, for every plan and every
subscription renewal, including after a change of mind, non-use or unused
subscription time. The exceptions are the correction of billing errors and
refunds that mandatory law requires.

Cancel your subscription anytime on your account page: select Manage billing.
Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for.

To report a billing error, such as a duplicate charge or an amount different
from the price confirmed at checkout, email service@starix.com.tw with your
checkout email address and your order or receipt number. Starix verifies and
corrects it.

Correcting a billing error keeps the license you validly paid for, and so does
a price reduction the law grants while you keep the Software. Any other refund
of a payment, in full or in part, ends the Pro license bought with it
immediately: for a subscription, the whole subscription; for a lifetime
license, that license and any offline key issued for it. Starix PDF Free
remains available.

7. Digital signatures

Starix PDF can apply certificate digital signatures
(Tools > Certificate Digital Signature) and place signature or seal images
(Sign & Seal). You supply and protect any signing certificate and password.
For cryptographic proof of identity and tamper evidence, use a certificate
digital signature; a signature or seal image is a visual mark only. Whether a
signature meets a particular law or recipient requirement depends on that law,
the certificate used and the recipient.


8. Updates and support

Starix may provide fixes and updates through the website or the Software. An
active subscription receives updates; a lifetime license receives updates to
the purchased major-version line while that line is maintained. Starix does
not promise indefinite operation of online services or compatibility with
every future operating-system release.


9. Disclaimer and liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Software is provided "as is"
without implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular
purpose or non-infringement. Starix is not liable for indirect, incidental,
special or consequential loss. Starix's total liability related to the
Software will not exceed the amount you paid for the affected license during
the preceding 12 months.

Your rights under mandatory consumer law always apply, including remedies for
digital content that is faulty or not as described. Where the law requires,
Starix remains liable, including for fraud, willful misconduct, and death or
personal injury caused by negligence.


10. Termination

This license terminates if you materially breach this Agreement. On
termination you must stop using and uninstall the Software. Clauses that by
their nature should survive termination remain effective.


11. Governing law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of Taiwan (Republic of China). Courts
in Taichung, Taiwan have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer,
you also keep the mandatory protections of the law of your country of
residence, including any right it gives you to bring claims in its courts.


12. Entire agreement

This Agreement, the Terms of Use (including the Refund Policy), the Privacy
Policy, the purchase offer and the applicable third-party license notices form
the agreement for your use of Starix PDF. Where this Agreement and the Terms
of Use overlap, this Agreement governs the software license.
