This is the same text the installer displays and the application stores beside itself. Site Terms of Use and this agreement are separate documents; where they overlap, this agreement governs the software licence.

Starix PDF -- End User License Agreement

This Agreement is between you and Starix Technology CO., LTD. ("Starix").

By installing or using Starix PDF (the "Software"), you agree to this
Agreement.


1. Licence options

The free edition may be used without payment, subject to its feature limits.
A 14-day trial unlocks Pro features for evaluation.

Paid individual Pro options are:

  - Flexible monthly subscription: US$4.99 per month.
  - Annual subscription: US$39.99 per year.
  - Perpetual licence: US$99.00 paid once.

Each paid individual licence is for one person and may be activated on up to
three of that person's devices. It may not be shared with another person.
Taxes, currency conversion and the final charged amount are shown at
checkout. No purchase is complete until the checkout page identifies the same
plan and price and you confirm payment.

A monthly or annual subscription authorizes Pro use while the paid
subscription remains active. A perpetual licence authorizes the purchased
major version for an unlimited term, subject to this Agreement. It does not
require a subscription renewal. Access to future separately priced major
versions is not promised unless the offer at purchase expressly says so.


2. Licence activation

Online licences use a Starix account, hosted for Starix by a cloud service
provider. Our payment provider supplies Starix with purchase and subscription
status so Starix can issue a signed, device-bound Pro entitlement. A device
activation may be released through the Software before activating another
device.

Online entitlements are periodically refreshed to confirm the account,
purchase status and device seat. Recurring plans may require reconnection
after the displayed offline grace period. A perpetual purchase does not expire,
but its online device token is renewed periodically for fraud prevention and
seat management. Customers who require permanently disconnected use may ask
support for a signed offline perpetual key after purchase verification.

An offline perpetual key is signed by Starix and bound to the device request
code for which it was issued. Up to three different device keys may be issued
for one eligible purchase. A replacement after hardware or operating-system
changes may require Starix support to release a prior device record.


3. Restrictions

You may not redistribute, sublicense, rent, lease, sell, share or transfer the
Software or a licence key to another person; bypass licence or device limits;
or remove proprietary notices. You may not reverse engineer, decompile or
disassemble the Software except where applicable law expressly permits it.
Rights granted by licences for third-party components are not restricted by
this clause.


4. Third-party components

The Software includes third-party open-source components under their own
licences. The NOTICE file and licensed-libraries folder supplied with the
Software contain applicable notices. Qt/PySide6 libraries are dynamically
linked and supplied under the applicable LGPL v3 terms described in NOTICE;
compatible Qt libraries may be replaced as allowed by that licence.


5. Privacy and local processing

PDF processing is performed locally. Account sign-in, entitlement and device
management use a cloud service provider engaged by Starix; purchase
processing uses a payment provider engaged by Starix; certificate status
checks may contact the relevant certificate authority when you ask to validate
a digital signature. Details are in PRIVACY.txt and at
https://pdf.starix.com.tw/privacy. Those disclosures form part of this
Agreement.


6. Trial and refunds

The Pro trial lasts 14 days from its first server activation. Sign-in with a verified email is required. Eligibility is limited to one trial per account/email and computer; reinstalling the app or clearing local data does not restart it. No card is required and the trial does not automatically become a paid subscription.

You may request a refund within 7 days after payment by contacting
service@starix.com.tw with the purchase reference. Starix may ask for
information reasonably needed to locate the transaction and prevent fraud.
Approved refunds are returned through the original payment method. Mandatory
consumer rights, including any longer or unconditional statutory withdrawal
right, remain unaffected.


7. Digital signatures

Starix PDF can apply certificate-based digital signatures and place
image-based signatures. You supply and protect any signing certificate and
password. Starix is not a certification authority and does not guarantee that
a signature satisfies a particular law or recipient requirement. An image
signature alone provides no cryptographic identity or tamper proof.


8. Updates and support

Starix may provide fixes and updates through the website or application.
Support and update availability may differ between an active subscription and
a perpetual version. Starix does not promise indefinite operation of online
services or compatibility with every future operating-system release.


9. Disclaimer and liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Software is provided "as is"
without implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular
purpose or non-infringement. Starix is not liable for indirect, incidental,
special or consequential loss. Starix's total liability related to the
Software will not exceed the amount you paid for the affected licence during
the preceding 12 months.

Nothing in this Agreement excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded,
including liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, or death or personal
injury caused by negligence where applicable. Mandatory consumer rights
remain unaffected.


10. Termination

This licence terminates if you materially breach this Agreement. On
termination you must stop using and uninstall the Software. Clauses that by
their nature should survive termination remain effective.


11. Governing law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of Taiwan (Republic of China), without
excluding mandatory protections in your place of residence. Courts in
Taichung, Taiwan have non-exclusive jurisdiction; consumers may bring claims
in any court made available by mandatory local law.


12. Entire agreement

This Agreement, the Privacy Notice, the purchase offer and applicable
third-party licence notices form the agreement for your use of Starix PDF.
